Subject: [Cave-survey-archive] Original cave data archive/SVN repository
Hi all

I have uploaded the outlines of a plan for the repository on

http://seagrass.goatchurch.org.uk/~andrew/Home.html

This also contains links to the proposal compiled by Harry. (forgive the
html style, it was done for speed.)

It is not a polished proposal, and as such is not ready for wide
distribution, it is there to give the feel. Please send any comments and
additions you feel are needed.

While writing this is has lead me to think of the work that needs to be done
to get the project off the ground.

SVN repository set up - I hope to be able to do this on the goatchurch
server.

Article to publicise the repository. Possibly future adverts in caving
publications.

Domain name, anyone got any good suggestions.

Better definitions of the Classes - I have legal mind working on this,
hopefully using existing licences and terms.

More thought about data to be published about each project.

Web pages about the use of SVN (windows and unix, anyone able to do macs)

Better interface (web?) for controlling the each Projects SVN repository Ie
issue usernames and passwords to project members. It is no good expecting
surveyors to be able to use a unix server.

Web template for including information about each project. I assume some
sort of CMS would be best. Anyone got any experience of these. Again it
would be better if each Project Coordinator could control the administration
for there project area.

Methods for automatically backing up the SVN, preferably from different
remote locations. It would be good if this system then updated a web page
detailing the backups.

Andrew

Ps Wookey who is on this list, I know you gave a list, but I do not know if
they where suggestions. If Dave Cooke is not on, I think that he should be
invited.
